Due to the explosion occurred at the Qinyuan Coal Mine in Shanxi Province on May 22, 2026.  Local government has ordered a complete shutdown and rectification of 18.7 million tons of coal mine capacity. This event may lead to an upward trend in coal prices.

According to China Chemical Industry Federation and the National Energy Administration for 2024-2025:

Chinese coal-based methanol accounts for approximately 80% of total methanol capacity and 84% of total output;

Methanol carbonylation (methanol to Acetic Acid) accounts for approximately 95% of total acetic acid  capacity;

Coal-based Ethanol accounts for approximately 35%-40% of industrial and fuel ethanol , and approximately 25%-30% of all ethanol (including edible ethanol).

Based on the above data, the prices of Methanol, Ethanol, Acetic Acid, Ethyl Acetate, And Methyl Acetate have large chance to rise in the near future. If you have purchasing demand, please contact SINOWIN team in advance for the latest quotes.
